Soprano Veronika Akhmetchina grew up surrounded by classical music and began performing at an early age both as a violinist and a singer with the National Choirs. She studied classical voice at the HKU Utrecht Conservatory under the guidance of Selma Harkink (Bachelor’s, 2019) and obtained her Master of Music at Fontys Academy of the Arts in 2025. She is currently coached by Henny Diemer, Margriet van Reisen and Boudewijn Jansen.

Driven by a deep love and passion for music theatre, Veronika moves effortlessly between opera, oratorio and contemporary repertoire. She has appeared as a soloist in works such as Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Bach’s St John Passion at venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, and Concertzaal Tilburg. Additionally, she has performed with companies and artists such as the Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera Zuid, and Kika Sprangers, and at the Gaudeamus Festival. Her roles range from Donna Anna (Mozart) and Diana (Cavalli) to roles in contemporary works, such as Inès in Jan-Peter de Graaff’s Effugium.

In February 2026, she won the runner-up prize at the Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition, and in autumn 2026 she makes her debut with Holland Opera as Sacha in the production FEEST.
